Shantanu started his professional career as an engineer in the year 1990 at The Music Room, Bombay. Starting off as a general gopher he went on to head the studio as Chief Engineer in 1991. In this capacity he engineered numerous radio and television commercials, documentaries, independent artistes, and a couple of feature films.
In 1995 Shantanu turned independent, engineering advertising jingles, indie artists, film soundtracks and film scores.
2002 saw him return as house engineer when he took over the reins at Empire Studios, Mumbai where he engineered many hit films and indie records such as PDV and Groove Suppa
From 2005 till August 2020, Shantanu helped establish and set up YRF Studios, Mumbai. He also took on the role of Sr. Sound Engineer, heading the largest recording studio in this country and putting it on the world map.
Shantanu currently consults extensively and is also the Technical Director at Sound and Vision Studios, one of India’s largest media localization companies.
Shantanu is also adjunct faculty at the True School of Music.
