S Sivakumar is the Chief Sound engineer at A.M. Studios, Chennai (associate studio of A.R.Rahman) which handles song recordings / back ground scores/ sound editing and final DTS and Dolby film mixing and final mastering.
He is armed with a BSC and D F Tech degree from FTIT , Tharamani , Chennai. Sivakumar has worked with many other prominent film directors and producers such as K. Balachander, Bharathiraja, Mani Ratham, Shankar, Subash Ghai, Shyam Benegal, Govind Nihalani, Ashutosh, M.F. Hussain. He has also worked on various international projects such as Vande Mataram, Bombay Dreams, Lord of the Rings and Warriors of Heaven and Earth. S Sivakumar, born in a small town in Tamil Nadu named Pattukotai, had a flair for sound from an early childhood and used to assist his father in live sound for various events. He developed a keen interest in this field and pursued education in Sound Technology at the Film Institute in Chennai and graduated in Film Technology in the year 1992. Just after his graduation, he was absorbed by A.R. Rahman and started his career with the box office hit film 'Gentelman' in the year 1993. From then on there was no turning back and over the years he has worked hundreds of films till date. He was also awarded as Best Sound Engineer by the State Govt of Tamil Nadu for the films 'Duet' and 'Rhythm' in the year 1996 and 1998 respectively.
