Daman Sood, passed out in 1969 from Film & Television Institute of India - Pune and was awarded Gold Medal for Sound Recording and Sound Engineering. He also completed an Advance Recording course at Surrey University UK in 1983 conducted by Association of Professional Recording Studios.
He started his career at Bombay Sound Services where he assisted Late Mr. B.N.Sharma who has recorded films like Madhumati, Mugle-a-Azam, Talash, Bandini, etc.
He established recording studios for Western Outdoor Advtg. Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai and worked as a Recording Director, and recorded more than 1000 radio & television commercials and more than 1000 CD titles for classical music, film songs, ghazals etc. for different music labels.
He also recorded and mixed for ghazal artist like Jagjit Singh (75 albums) Pankaj Udhas (15 albums), Ghulam Ali, Mehndi Hassan etc. He has recorded double album for Runa Laila whose music is composed by Mr. O.P.Nayar and has recorded and mixed film songs of Blockbuster films of Bollywood like Dilwale Dulhaniyan Ley Jayenge, Darr, Dil To Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Mohabattein, Machis, Gupt, Devdas etc.
Sood was Technical Consultant and Senior Engineer for Yash Raj Studio a multi crore project that includes shooting floors, film-mixing studio, music recording studio, dubbing studio.
He also conceptualized & executed S&V Studios a Postproduction & Film Mix Facility in Mumbai. He has successfully designed and consulted over 110 Sound Recording Studios over past 30 years. These include acoustic design, Air Condition design consultation, interior decoration and supervision of work. Also responsible for suggesting and consulting customers on equipment to be used to successfully run the studio.
He was Music recording consultant for Yash Chopra's directorial film - Veer Zaara, Project Manager for Sahara India Networks Music Recording Studios Nyasa and Founding member of Whistling Wood International Institute for Film and Television, Mumbai by Film producer / Director Mr. Subhash Ghai.
He has won many prestigious awards such as Platinum Award for the film Qurbani, technical excellency awards from Radio & Television Advertising Practitioners Associations, RAPA for the public services commercial 'Mile Sur Mera Tumhara', Gold Disk and awards for several successful albums recorded for classical, ghazal and film music albums, IIFA award for Best Song Recording for the Film DEVDAS and Lifetime achievement award from - Western India Motion Pictures Engineer,IRAA (Indian Recording Arts Academy Awards), RadioMirchi and Indywood Music Excellence Award 2017.
He has been responsible for drafting the syllabus in several Sound Recording and Engineering Institutes including FTII, Mukta Arts- Whistling Woods Academy and Digital Academy. He was also Head of Audio Faculty at Digital Academy for Audio Engineering
He is a Full member of Audio Engineering Society, New York and responsible for starting AES Chapter in India.
